EDT means eau de toilette and EDP means eau de parfum. These labels help identify a fragrance version. When buying online, compare the full name, concentration and bottle size together.
What the labels tell you
CHANEL describes parfum as its most concentrated interpretation, with eau de parfum and eau de toilette offering lighter expressions. The distinction relates to concentration and intensity. Consult the individual brand's description for the fragrance you want. See CHANEL's fragrance FAQ.
A concentration label alone does not provide a guaranteed number of hours of wear. Avoid choosing a bottle solely because a listing promises a fixed duration.
A buying checklist for each version
| Label | What to compare |
|---|---|
| EDT / Eau de toilette | The exact EDT product name, brand description, bottle size and price. |
| EDP / Eau de parfum | The EDP version's own description and size, even if you know the EDT. |
| Parfum | The complete name and format. Check whether the bottle is a spray or another application format. |
Compare like for like
Open the product pages side by side. First match the fragrance name, then the concentration. Finally compare size and price. A range can contain similarly named products, so check every word of the listing rather than relying on the bottle colour.
For example, if your favourite bottle says “eau de toilette,” search for that exact version when replacing it. If you want to try the eau de parfum, treat it as a new choice and read its description before buying.
Think about your daily routine
Decide whether this bottle is for everyday use, the office, evenings or gifting. For a gift, a photograph of the recipient's current bottle can be more useful than knowing only the brand name.
When you can sample more than one version, try them on separate days. That makes it easier to remember which one you prefer. Use your own experience to decide how much to apply.
Check value and availability
To compare sizes of the same version, divide the price in AED by the number of millilitres. Also consider how much you expect to use. A low price per millilitre is only useful if you want that much of that particular fragrance.
Check that the selected size is in stock and review delivery details before completing checkout. Stock and prices can change, so the product page is the place to confirm the current offer.
